Abstract 

The need for information which led to increased availability demands wherever and whenever he needed. This is answered with the development of mobile communication technology in which to provide mobile information services. Internet presence on mobile devices opens opportunities for the business sector to develop WAPbased system (Wireless Application Protocol). One area that can implement this system is tourism. Tourism for the local government is one aspect to improve local revenue. One of the constraints faced by local governments in terms of tourism development is the absence of an effective information system for tourists. Tourists often have difficulty in finding a place or facility which the city proper. Therefore, to improve services to tourists so tourism sector needs to develop mobile information services. With the development of the guide system based on WAP, is expected to provide and facilitate the tourists in getting information on where and whenever needed. This guide system is a system that provides various types of information to mobile devices based on location, time and event where tourists visit.

Pendahuluan 

Pariwisata bagi pemerintah daerah merupakan salah satu aspek untuk meningkatkan pendapatan daerah. Salah satu kendala yang dihadapi oleh pemerintah daerah dalam hal pengembangan pariwisata adalah tidak adanya sistem informasi yang efektif untuk para wisatawan. Saat ini sarana informasi untuk mempermudah pencarian lokasi wisata masih banyak yang menggunakan cara konvensional seperti brosur, pameran, atau majalah-majalah. Walaupun banyak juga yang sudah lumayan canggih seperti pencarian online, maupun pemanfaatan peta di websitenya, akan tetapi wisatawan masih sering mengalami kesulitan dalam hal menemukan tempat atau fasilitas yang tepat di kota tersebut.
