Abstract
Information system which was built in addition to providing information about school issues and information that is knowledge, also provides an interface member pages (teachers and students) to obtain facilities in obtaining updated information. It also provided an interface page for administrators to supervise, control and update the system. Promotion and delivery of information in the application of SMAN 4 Purworejo with internet media will be more effective and efficient. By using this website the new students who want to register can register online without having to come directly to school. School information will be more easily and quickly accessible anywhere and anytime without limits of time and tempat.Definisi basics will lead to the use of directed web applications can function properly, the concept of problem solving is realized in the form of the basic mechanisms of online information systems. Application of academic information system is expected to shorten the bureaucracy in handling matters that are academic environment of SMAN 4 Purworejo particular.

Pendahuluan
Maraknya penggunaan internet di seluruh kawasan dunia, memberi dampak yang luas bagi perkembangan infrastruktur yang mendukungnya. Pada tahun 1996, di Indonesia tercatat 5.262 host, ini berarti tumbuh sekitar 521% dibandingkan tahun sebelumnya. Namun, pertumbuhan ini masih kecil bila dibandingkan dengan Malaysia, yaitu pada periode yang sama mencapai 686%. Di Singapura lebih kecil pertumbuhannya, cuma 368% dengan jumlah host yang jauh lebih banyak, yaitu 38.376 buah. Tahun 1996, Malaysia mempunyai 8.541 host, Hongkong 24.133 host, Jepang 496.427 host, dan Australia 397.460 host. Pertumbuhan sangat pesat terjadi di Cina, yaitu pada tahun yang sama mempunyai 11.282 host dengan pertumbuhan 1003%.
